Bio: Qiquan Qiao obtained an M.S. in Optics from the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics at Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Organic Electronics from the Virginia Commonwealth University.  He spent two years as an Optics Engineer with Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics in Shanghai, China. While at the Virginia Commonwealth University, he received the ASME Solar Energy Division Graduate Student Research Award and an China Government Award to Outstanding Students Aboard.

He joined the faculty at South Dakota State University in 2007 where he established the Organic Electronic Laboratory – a teaching and research lab devoted to studying various organic electronic materials and devices. Current research is in organic photovoltaics, organic light emitting diodes and organic transistors.
